Wisdom Of Chanuka and the Emotional Health of lighting the Menorah.
My soul is Longing….
There is a deep tora from the son of the holy Reb Leibale Eiger.
he used to say there are two levels of seeing.
The first level is to see what there is. and don't kid your self/ it is also a high level.
Most of the world don't even see that for one second in a all life time.
Lets assume, One has reached already that level, of seeing the reality as it is.
now there is a much higher level. that level is called "vechol ayin lecha tezape".
Meaning, yearning, and longing.
It's an awesome Tora (wisdom).
We think that only our heart is capable of longing.but truly, it is something much deeper when our eyes are longing.
In Addition, usually, in order to long with your eyes one needs to close them.
Because, when one opens their eyes, you see what there is. But, when one is yearning and longing for what is still missing, they close their eyes.
Now, listen , my friends,
There is one holiday when G-d is showing us all the things that we are yearning for. That is Chanuka. and how does he show us ? in the chanuka candles. when the sun and the moon are shining, they show us what there is. In a candle we see all that we are missing. because a candle is trembling. it is so awesome. when do we use candles, in awesome moments in our lives. when we are so close with someone we love words or eyes can't express it.
What is Tshuva? Thsuva is to go back to the place my eyes are yearning for.
In my relationship to other people and to G-D.
Sinnig is to disconnect from the yearning. On Chanuka all that yearning is being returned to us.
I bless you this Chanuka so much yearning is going to return to your lives. with your loved ones and with G-d.
We should all stand in front of the candles and see the longing in our own hearts and in our loved ones eyes.
